Pakistan and India escalate military technology competition

Military developments and intelligence concerns are shaping the defense landscape between Pakistan and India. Pakistan’s Air Force intelligence has expressed concern that India might gain access to sensitive technical data regarding China-supplied J-10CE fighter jets through growing defense cooperation with Uzbekistan. The J-10CE fleet, which includes advanced AESA radars and long-range air-to-air missiles, is viewed as a critical component of Pakistan’s air defense. Officials fear that any exposure to technical manuals or avionics data through Uzbek channels could allow India to develop counter-tactics.

Simultaneously, the regional competition has extended to attack helicopters. Pakistan has inducted the Chinese-made Z-10ME, which features a reduced infrared signature and advanced electronic countermeasures designed for anti-armor and precision-strike missions. In contrast, India utilizes the American-made AH-64E Apache Guardian, which relies on a sophisticated weapons suite and networked battlefield capabilities. Both nations are utilizing these advanced platforms to enhance their respective close air support and survivability in contested environments.
