Pakistan and Ireland announce squads for 2026 FIH Men's Hockey World Cup

Pakistan has named a 20‑member squad for the 2026 FIH Men's Hockey World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium, with striker Abu Bakr Mahmood appointed captain. The team returns to the tournament after an eight‑year absence and will compete in Pool D alongside India, England and Wales. Pakistan’s opening match is scheduled for 15 August against England in Amstelveen.

Ireland’s head coach Mark Tumilty has also released a 20‑player roster for the same World Cup, marking the nation’s first appearance since 2018. The Irish side qualified by beating Wales in the semi‑final and France in the final of the Nations Cup. The squad remains largely unchanged from the Nations Cup lineup and includes goalkeeper Jaime Carr, defender Kyle Marshall and forward Matthew Nelson, among others.

Both squads will travel to Belgium and the Netherlands to compete in the tournament that runs from 15 to 30 August, seeking to test themselves against the world’s best teams.
