Pakistan and Kuwait sign new defense cooperation agreement

Pakistan and Kuwait have signed a new military pact, titled the “Protocol Agreement-2026”, to deepen bilateral defense cooperation. The agreement was formalized in Rawalpindi during an official visit by a high-level Kuwaiti delegation led by Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah to meet with Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

Building upon the foundation of the “Defense Cooperation Agreement-2023”, this new protocol expands the framework for military collaboration. Key areas of cooperation include military training, capacity building, border management, intelligence sharing, and defense technology. Under the terms, the Pakistani Armed Forces will provide assistance to Kuwait in several defense-related sectors to enhance operational coordination and readiness.

Prior to the signing, the Kuwaiti delegation also met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to discuss regional security challenges and institutional cooperation. Officials from both nations stated that the agreement reflects deep mutual trust and aims to contribute to regional peace and stability.
