Pakistan and Nepal discuss direct flights and enhanced bilateral ties
Pakistan and Nepal are discussing the resumption of direct flights to enhance bilateral engagement. During a meeting of the Pakistan-Nepal-Bhutan Parliamentary Friendship Group in Islamabad, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry emphasized that improved aviation connectivity could facilitate better trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, providing more efficient travel for students and business professionals.
Separately, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal has called for a shift in Nepal-US relations. As Nepal prepares to graduate from least-developed country status, Khanal suggested moving away from traditional development assistance toward a focus on investment, trade, technology, and entrepreneurship. He identified key areas for future cooperation, including connecting Nepal’s IT workforce with US innovation, expanding clean energy collaboration, and leveraging the Nepali diaspora in the United States.
