Nigeria and Pakistan declare public holidays for Eid ul Mawlid
Nigeria and Pakistan have both announced public holidays to observe Eid ul Mawlid, the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In Nigeria, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as a public holiday. In Pakistan, the federal government has declared Wednesday, August 26, 2026, as a public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi. The date was adjusted following the sighting of the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. The holiday will be observed nationwide, with special prayers and religious processions planned to mark the occasion.
