Pakistan and Silk Road Fund discuss energy and infrastructure investment
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with a high-level delegation from the Silk Road Fund (SRF), led by Chairperson Zhu Jun, to discuss expanding economic and investment cooperation. The discussions focused on potential opportunities within the energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors, as well as Pakistan’s ongoing privatization programme.
During the meeting, Minister Aurangzeb briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s recent macroeconomic progress, citing improvements in fiscal discipline, foreign exchange reserves, and external account stability. He outlined government initiatives aimed at strengthening domestic resource mobilization, broadening the tax base through digitalization, and addressing structural challenges in the energy sector.
The Minister emphasized the importance of creating a predictable policy environment and strengthening institutional frameworks to attract long-term investment. He noted that collaboration with international institutions like the SRF could facilitate capital formation and support the expansion of productive economic activity in the country.
