Pakistan army accused of abuses as Baloch activists protest in Germany

Baloch National Movement activists staged a protest in Bremen, Germany, urging the international community to intervene in what they describe as a worsening human‑rights crisis in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The demonstrators alleged that the Pakistani army carries out large‑scale collective punishment, including enforced disappearances, custodial killings, demolition of homes and forced displacement.

They cited recent raids on Panwan village in Gwadar district, in which more than 60 people were reportedly disappeared and five bodies allegedly dumped after being killed in custody. The BNM warned that these operations also serve the army’s interests in controlling a lucrative smuggling route along the China‑Pakistan Economic Corridor. The protest concluded with a call for neighboring countries and human‑rights organisations to recognise and stop what the group termed a "genocide against the Baloch nation."
