Pakistan Army destroys Afghan Taliban posts along border
The Pakistan Army has destroyed several military positions and posts belonging to the Afghan Taliban in areas adjacent to South Waziristan and Parachinar, according to state-run Radio Pakistan. The military action was a response to unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces in the Angoor Adda area.
Security sources report that the Pakistani military used heavy weaponry, including artillery, to force Taliban personnel to abandon their posts and flee. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of several Afghan Taliban personnel.
The escalation follows an incident where firing from Afghan territory targeted Pakistani border posts and residential areas, killing one civilian and injuring five members of a single family. Tensions between Islamabad and Kabul remain high due to recurring cross-border security concerns and disputes regarding the presence of terrorist organizations within Afghan territory.
