Pakistan assumes G-24 chairmanship to advocate for financial reform

Pakistan has officially assumed the chairmanship of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four (G-24). Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb described the role as a profound responsibility aimed at strengthening the collective voice of developing economies.

Aurangzeb outlined three strategic priorities for the term: placing development at the center of global economic policymaking, strengthening multilateral frameworks through more inclusive institutions, and advancing a development-oriented international financial architecture.

The ministry emphasized that Pakistan will advocate for more equitable governance and greater responsiveness from Bretton Woods institutions. Key focus areas include addressing climate shocks, closing development financing gaps, ensuring sustainable debt solutions, and improving global financial safety nets.
