Pakistan authorities mobilize resources for flood relief and monsoon response

Pakistan's federal and provincial authorities are intensifying efforts to manage flood risks and relief operations during the monsoon season. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the deployment of all available resources to assist victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik briefed the Prime Minister on ongoing rehabilitation and relief activities. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of coordinating with provincial departments and noted the increasing role of artificial intelligence and modern technology in disaster response at the National Emergencies Operation Centre.

In Punjab, Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that health, rescue, and livestock departments are fully active to mitigate flood threats. While river water flows are currently reported as normal, the provincial government has prepared relief camps, evacuation plans, and rescue machinery in sensitive areas to respond to potential emergencies.
