Pakistan, Azerbaijan pledge deeper cooperation as ambassador departs

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, met outgoing Azerbaijani Ambassador Khazar Farhadov, praising his role in expanding energy cooperation, including increased collaboration between Pakistani firms and SOCAR. The minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepen ties with Azerbaijan in the petroleum sector and broader economic areas.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also received Ambassador Farhadov, thanking him for strengthening the “brotherly” relationship across political, trade, defence, cultural and people‑to‑people domains. The prime minister highlighted achievements such as the launch of direct flights and recalled recent high‑level visits, including President Ilham Aliyev’s trip to Pakistan. Both officials expressed confidence that the strategic partnership will continue to grow after the ambassador’s departure.
