Pakistan cabinet ratifies defence pact with Kuwait

The Pakistani federal cabinet has ratified a defence cooperation agreement with Kuwait, aimed at strengthening institutional linkages and cooperation between the armed forces of both nations. The agreement was originally concluded on June 11, 2023, and was ratified by the Kuwaiti government on July 19.

In other administrative decisions, the cabinet approved the transfer of powers from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to the provincial governor. This move follows the declaration of an emergency and the imposition of governor’s rule in the province on October 11. The governor will submit monthly reports to the federal government regarding the management of day-to-day administrative affairs.

Additionally, the cabinet approved new designs for currency notes following recommendations from the Finance Ministry. These new notes will incorporate modern materials and enhanced security measures to increase their lifespan. The cabinet also approved replacing the 10 rupee banknote with a 10 rupee coin.
