Pakistan-China business delegation discusses innovation and investment
On August 7, 2024 a high‑powered Chinese business delegation led by Li Ang visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). President Sardar Tahir Mehmood urged expanding Pakistan‑China economic cooperation beyond the China‑Pakistan Economic Corridor, emphasizing innovation, advanced manufacturing, digital transformation and high‑value sectors such as electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, green technologies, smart logistics and modern agriculture. He highlighted Pakistan’s strategic location, youthful workforce and growing consumer market as attractive for Chinese investors.
The same day OIC‑COMSTECH hosted the Global South Innovation and Investment Summit 2026 in Islamabad, jointly organized with Pathfinder CITADEL Pakistan and the Commercial Culture Association of China. The summit gathered the 13‑member Chinese delegation, senior Pakistani officials including Federal Investment Minister Qaiser Sheikh, and leaders from academia, startups and industry to promote technology commercialization and cross‑border investment across the Global South. Coordinator General Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary stressed the need for the Global South’s two‑billion‑plus population to become creators of indigenous solutions.
