Pakistan considers rebranding NCCIA as Cyber Police

Proposals have been submitted to the Ministry of Interior to restructure the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) by renaming it the ‘Cyber Police’. The plan includes establishing cyber police stations in every district of Pakistan to enhance investigations and operations. Under this proposed framework, existing NCCIA buildings would be converted into cyber police stations, and leadership roles would be adjusted, with Station House Officers (SHOs) replacing Deputy Directors in some districts, and SP or DSP-ranked officers overseeing larger areas.

Separately, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, stating that fundamental changes are expected to ‘reset’ the country’s system. He highlighted the government’s work on a ‘business passport’ to facilitate easier international travel for traders. Naqvi also emphasized the need to increase exports and boost domestic production capacity, citing Iran’s ability to meet industrial needs despite sanctions as a model for learning.
