Pakistan courts US investors with Punjab SEZ incentives and broader economic outreach
Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain told a 22‑member US delegation that Punjab’s Special Economic Zones offer world‑class infrastructure and investor‑friendly incentives for agriculture, manufacturing, textiles and mining. He highlighted projects such as a Surgical City in Sialkot, a new industrial estate in Quaidabad for pink‑salt value addition, electric‑motorcycle assembly, lithium‑battery plants and a Garment City at Sheikhupura’s Quaid‑i‑Azam Business Park. The delegation, led by Muhammad Hanif Channa of Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington, expressed interest in these opportunities.
In Karachi, the American Business Council of Pakistan hosted a US business and congressional delegation, where ABC President Akram Wali Muhammad urged American firms and the Pakistani diaspora to invest in technology, energy, minerals and manufacturing. He emphasized recent reforms and the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s single‑window approach to streamline investment.
Both events aim to deepen bilateral trade, create jobs and attract long‑term US capital to Pakistan’s economy.
