Pakistan Cricket Board launches inquiry into player conduct

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an internal inquiry into player discipline and conduct following a series of controversies surrounding the national team’s tour of England. The investigation follows a significant 194-run defeat at Lord's, which prompted the PCB to make sweeping changes to the squad and coaching staff.

Reports indicate that the inquiry includes an examination of the activities and mobile phone data of players Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan. While some media reports have speculated about match-fixing, the PCB has officially stated that it is reviewing reports regarding discipline and behavior according to standard procedures, cautioning against unverified social media claims.

Amidst the investigation, former Red Ball head coach Jason Gillespie has publicly criticized PCB Chairman Aaqib Javed, alleging that Javed’s leadership has caused instability within Pakistan cricket. Gillespie also noted that the PCB owes him outstanding payments. Meanwhile, Test captain Babar Azam stated he was not consulted regarding the recent removal of seven players and several coaching staff members, noting that the decisions were made solely by the board.
