Pakistan Defense Chief Munir Visits Turkey for Military Talks

Field Marshal Asim Munir, chief of Pakistan's Defense Forces, arrived in Turkey for a two‑day official visit. He met Turkish General Staff chief Orgeneral Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and other senior political and military leaders. The visit began with a formal military ceremony in Ankara where Munir was presented with the Turkish Armed Forces Superior Service Medal for contributions to strengthening bilateral armed‑forces relations.

Discussions focused on expanding defense cooperation within the R‑4 diplomatic framework, which includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan. The talks followed recent reciprocal visits, including a Turkish Land Forces commander’s visit to Pakistan and earlier meetings between Pakistani and Turkish air force officials on drone and cyber capabilities. Both sides expressed intent to deepen collaboration across defense, security and broader economic sectors.
