Pakistan demands Afghan Taliban curb militant activity

Pakistan has called on the Afghan Taliban authorities to take verifiable action to prevent militant groups from using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistani territory. The Pakistani Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Foreign Office identified several groups allegedly receiving support or sanctuary, including the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and groups referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.

Islamabad stated that its security concerns are supported by assessments from United Nations Security Council monitoring teams regarding militant operations under Taliban rule. Pakistan emphasized that it requires practical, measurable steps rather than verbal assurances to address the surge in cross-border violence in regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

In response to counter-allegations from Kabul regarding civilian casualties and internal security failures, Pakistan dismissed these claims as baseless and diversionary. The Foreign Office maintained that its military operations are acts of self-defense aimed strictly at militant logistical centers and that it continues to call on the international community to ensure the Afghan Taliban comply with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
