Pakistan demands Taliban prevent Afghan soil from being used for terrorism

Experts at a roundtable discussion organized by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) in Islamabad have emphasized that Pakistan’s primary expectation from the Taliban regime is that Afghan soil must not be used to launch attacks against Pakistan.

Participants noted that Pakistan has exercised restraint despite a continuous series of terrorist attacks coordinated from Afghan territory. They urged the Taliban government to address Pakistan’s security concerns regarding terrorism and to engage in a meaningful, consultative process to resolve outstanding issues.

Beyond security, the experts highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, noting that three-quarters of the population lives in poverty. They urged the Taliban to prioritize the welfare of the Afghan people, particularly women, over the support of terrorist groups.
