Pakistan Deploys 250 Chinese SH-15 Howitzers Along India Border

Pakistan has acquired 250 SH-15 155mm truck‑mounted self‑propelled howitzers from China’s state defence firm NORINCO and begun deploying them along its border with India. The move follows India’s May 2025 Operation Sindoor, which targeted militant sites across the Line of Control and reportedly damaged Pakistan’s artillery capabilities.

The SH-15 can fire standard NATO 155mm rounds to a distance of 30‑40 km and rocket‑assisted projectiles up to 53‑72 km. It travels on a 6×6 armored truck chassis at speeds of up to 90 km/h, can fire six rounds per minute, and is designed for rapid “shoot‑and‑scoot” operations. Analysts say the deployment enhances Pakistan’s long‑range firepower and places several Indian forward bases and logistic routes within its strike envelope, underscoring the deepening defence partnership between Pakistan and China.
