Pakistan Deputy PM Ishaq Dar attends ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Manila to lead Pakistan's delegation at the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) ministerial meeting. The forum brings together foreign ministers from the 27 ARF member states to discuss political and security issues affecting the Asia‑Pacific region, with a focus on promoting peace, stability and dialogue.

During the three‑day gathering, Dar is scheduled to take part in plenary sessions and hold bilateral talks with his Philippine counterpart and other officials, including a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Pakistan aims to leverage its recent role in brokering an interim US‑Iran peace framework to advance its diplomatic profile and reinforce calls for regional cooperation.

The engagement underscores Pakistan's active participation in ASEAN‑led multilateral platforms since joining the ARF in 2004, highlighting its interest in strengthening trade, energy and connectivity ties across Southeast Asia.
