Pakistan Expands Trade Ties with Egypt and Iran
Pakistan is actively seeking to deepen its economic links with Egypt and Iran. Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan told a reception for Egypt’s National Day in Islamabad that the two countries should move beyond traditional trade, develop joint value chains and cooperate in sectors such as power, telecommunications, financial services and real estate. He also announced Pakistan’s participation in the Food Africa 2026 exhibition in Egypt and invited Egyptian firms to join upcoming Pakistani food, agriculture and textile fairs.
Separately, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) projected that bilateral trade with Iran could rise to $10 billion a year within three to five years, up from the current $2.8 billion. FPCCI officials highlighted the need for stronger industrial partnerships, simplified banking channels and better transport links, while Iranian delegates emphasized cooperation in heavy machinery, engineering, agriculture, petrochemicals and renewable energy.
