Pakistan FBR admits technical failures in IRIS tax system

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has acknowledged significant technical issues with IRIS, its online tax management platform. The system was designed to digitize tax services, including registration, filing income tax returns, and responding to notices, to improve efficiency and reduce paperwork.

Users, including taxpayers, tax consultants, and businesses, have reported long-standing problems such as slow loading times, login failures, and errors during return submissions. These technical difficulties have frequently caused delays and frustration, particularly during critical tax filing periods. The FBR’s admission confirms that these issues are systemic rather than isolated individual complaints.
