Pakistan fuel prices fluctuate amid daily pricing adjustments

Fuel prices in Pakistan have experienced significant volatility due to the government’s daily pricing mechanism. Recent data from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) shows petrol prices rising for six consecutive days, reaching Rs. 398.96 per litre. High-speed diesel also saw an increase, rising by Rs. 0.78 to Rs. 395.72 per litre.

These upward trends have caused cumulative increases of Rs. 87.85 for petrol and Rs. 72.42 for diesel under the current adjustment system. Such fluctuations impact transportation costs, freight operations, and the pricing of essential goods, placing additional pressure on household budgets.

Conversely, the market has also seen periods of relief, with petrol prices recording their first decrease since September. These reductions are closely monitored by motorists, transporters, and businesses, as lower fuel costs can potentially mitigate rising expenses for public transport and daily commodities.
