Pakistan fuel prices see LPG surge and petrol reductions
Fuel prices in Pakistan are experiencing divergent trends. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices have reached a record Rs600 per kilogram in northern areas, with domestic cylinders selling for up to Rs7,200. This surge follows the suspension of LPG imports from Iran due to the closure of trade border points. Industry representatives note that prices in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are approximately Rs500 per kilogram. These market rates significantly exceed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) notified price of Rs279 per kilogram, leading to concerns regarding black marketing and regulatory enforcement.
In contrast, petrol and diesel prices have seen a reduction. As of October 20, petrol prices have fallen to Rs381.14 per litre, and high-speed diesel has decreased to Rs389.27 per litre. This revision follows previous rates from mid-October, offering motorists slight savings at the pump.
