Pakistan Gold Prices Drop Sharply as Global Spot Rates Retreat
Domestic gold prices in Pakistan fell sharply on Friday, with 24‑karat gold slipping by Rs 4,600 per tola to Rs 427,436. The All‑Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association reported similar declines across all major weight categories in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar. The drop coincided with a modest easing in the international spot market, where gold traded around $4,046 per ounce, and was influenced by broader energy‑price fluctuations and expectations of cautious monetary policy from the U.S. Federal Reserve.
A day later, the market reversed, and gold rose by Rs 4,600 per tola to Rs 433,836 as the global spot price climbed to $4,114 per ounce. Analysts noted that Pakistani bullion rates remain highly responsive to international price movements and currency dynamics, signaling continued volatility for consumers and jewelry traders.
