Pakistan hockey leads series against South Korea as international play returns after 20 years

The Pakistan national hockey team opened a four‑match Test series against South Korea with a 3‑1 victory, giving Pakistan a 1‑0 lead. The first match was played on 31 July 2026 at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad, with Sufyan Khan scoring two penalty‑corner goals and captain Abu Bakar Mahmood adding a field goal. The remaining matches are scheduled for 1, 4 and 7 August 2026.

The series marks the return of international hockey to Pakistan after a two‑decade hiatus, reflecting improved security that has restored confidence among foreign teams. Officials hope the successful hosting will encourage more tours, boost grassroots interest and help Pakistan regain a top‑10 world ranking ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
