Pakistan hockey team faces mismanagement amid World Cup
The Pakistan national hockey team is facing criticism following a series of management and professionalism issues during the ongoing World Cup in Europe. The team recently suffered a 4-1 defeat against England.
Controversy arose when players attended a dinner hosted by the Belgian and Dutch embassies in casual attire, including slippers, making them difficult for guests to recognize. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohiuddin Wani stated he was unaware of the players' choice of dress.
Further issues include late appointments of foreign coaches who reportedly lacked the experience to manage the team under pressure. Critics have also pointed to internal politics and a lack of support from local management, which has isolated the coaching staff and prevented the implementation of a coherent strategy.
