Pakistan fuel prices rise as petrol hits 384.34 PKR
Pakistan's petroleum prices have continued to rise, with the federal government implementing further increases in fuel costs. Most recently, petrol prices rose by 4.10 PKR per liter to reach 384.34 PKR, while high-speed diesel increased by 6.41 PKR to 415.83 PKR.
Over the past month, petrol prices have surged by approximately 59 PKR per liter, and diesel has increased by about 32 PKR per liter. This trend follows a period of continuous hikes, with significant increases noted over the last ten days alone.
Petroleum Minister Ali Parvez Malik stated that fuel prices are rising and will likely increase further, urging the public to trust the government. He noted that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determines prices daily based on transparency and global market trends. Malik also highlighted concerns regarding the gas sector, specifically mentioning the rising costs of gas cargoes from Qatar.
The government is currently awaiting an IMF review this month and has expressed intentions to seek relief measures for the public despite the ongoing inflationary pressures.
