Pakistan International Airlines conducts recruitment and addresses staff misconduct

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has commenced interviews for air hostess recruitment at its Karachi base. The process, chaired by Chief Human Resources Officer Athar Hussain, follows similar recruitment drives previously completed for the airline’s Lahore and Islamabad bases. Candidates for the cabin crew positions were required to hold a bachelor’s degree and meet specific age requirements.

In a separate matter, an audit at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore revealed that over 20 PIA employees were involved in a scheme to divert fees intended for premium and extra-legroom seats. According to audit documents, staff collected extra charges from passengers but manually altered system records to categorize the seats as standard, pocketing the difference.

The Lahore Finance and Audit Committee reported that PIA has recovered PKR 5,060,269 through salary deductions from the implicated staff. While disciplinary proceedings were mandated, Station Manager Ashfaq Hussain Awan noted that further administrative action was halted following intervention by senior officials.
