Pakistan International Airlines renews IOSA safety registration

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has successfully renewed its International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration. This marks the 12th consecutive time the national carrier has maintained this international aviation safety certification. The latest registration is valid until September 11, 2028.

The Risk-Based IATA Operational Safety Audit was conducted in June 2026. The assessment evaluated several critical operational areas, including flight operations, cabin operations, ground handling, and cargo services. The audit ensures that the airline’s operational management and control systems meet internationally recognized aviation safety standards.

While the renewal follows the appointment of Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Anwar Ali Hyder as chairman of PIA, the safety assessment itself was completed prior to his leadership change. The successful audit is viewed as a step toward improving internal systems and restoring confidence among passengers and international aviation authorities as the airline undergoes organizational changes.
