Pakistan International Airlines undergoes leadership and structural changes

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is undergoing significant leadership and structural changes. Former Ethiopian Airlines head Toldé Gebremariam has declined the offer to become the new CEO of the airline. Following this refusal, the PIA Board of Directors has decided to retain the current CEO, Amir Hayat, in his position until a new appointment is finalized. The airline is reportedly continuing its search for a suitable candidate.

In tandem with these leadership developments, PIA has released a new organizational structure aimed at restructuring the airline’s operations. The new framework introduces several key changes, including the creation of a Chief Airworthiness position and the renaming of the Chief Technical Officer to Chief of Maintenance.

Under the new hierarchy, the CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors. Various departments, including Corporate Communication, Brand, Safety, and Government Affairs, will now report directly to the CEO. The restructuring also defines specific reporting lines for the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, and Chief Financial Officer to streamline management across flight operations, maintenance, and passenger services.
