Pakistan issues nationwide storm, hail and flood alert

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and its National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) issued a 12‑ to 24‑hour weather alert for most of Pakistan. The advisory warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain and hailstorms across the country, with heightened risk of flash floods, landslides and glacial lake outburst floods as glacier melt accelerates.

The alert lists districts in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit‑Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Sindh, Balochistan and the Islamabad capital region that could be affected, including major cities such as Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Rawalpindi. Authorities noted that a national monsoon conference convened under the prime minister’s direction had already addressed pre‑monsoon preparedness, but citizens were urged to stay vigilant.

The warning aims to help communities and emergency services prepare for possible flooding and associated hazards during the next half‑day to day.
