Pakistan: KP government challenges court ruling on PTI detentions
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has challenged a Peshawar High Court decision in the Federal Constitutional Court. The previous ruling declared the house arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers under the 3 MPO null and void, ordering that they not be arrested.
Petitions were filed through the Chief Secretary against the court orders. A bench headed by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan is scheduled to hear the applications. Currently, petitions involve 51 specific PTI workers, including individuals such as Ehsan, Haq Nawaz Khan, and others.
Sources indicate that the KP government, operating under governor's rule following the imposition of emergency, intends to approach the Federal Constitutional Court regarding the bail and detention status of an additional 150 PTI workers.
