Pakistan launches four-year Hajj registration system
Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs has unveiled its first four‑year Hajj policy covering the 2027‑2030 pilgrimage seasons. The framework introduces a fully digital registration and waiting‑list platform that lets pilgrims select their preferred Hajj year, with allocations made on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Applicants must pay an estimated 10 % of the total Hajj cost up front and can settle the balance in installments; the government estimates the 2027 package will cost between Rs 1.2 million and Rs 1.3 million per pilgrim.
The policy keeps the quota split at 60 % government‑run and 40 % private operators, and it will use three‑ to four‑year contracts for accommodation, transport, catering, air travel and cargo services. A new digital complaint‑management system, grievance redressal process and pre‑departure training on mobile services, emergency procedures and Saudi regulations are also part of the plan, aiming to improve transparency, efficiency and pilgrim experience.
