Pakistan leaders hold economic and aviation talks in New York

Pakistani leadership held high-level meetings in New York to discuss economic cooperation and investment opportunities with American entities. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with a joint delegation from the US-Pakistan Business Council and the Business Council of International Understanding. The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s business-friendly environment and emphasized the country's large market and young workforce as key drivers for American investors.

Concurrently, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb engaged in discussions regarding the digitalization of Pakistan’s economy, noting that digital public infrastructure and cashless payments are vital for sustainable growth. He also addressed the need for legislative frameworks regarding virtual assets and the potential tokenization of real estate and public debt.

In the aviation sector, Minister Aurangzeb met with the Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States to discuss financial assistance for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Discussions focused on the potential acquisition of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, financing for engines, and the provision of spare parts for existing aircraft. Additionally, the meetings covered American support for refinery upgrades and the RECO DAC project to bolster future exports.
