Pakistan leaders inaugurate Yadgar-e-Fatah monument in Islamabad

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Yadgar-e-Fatah monument in Islamabad on Thursday. The memorial was constructed to honor Pakistani martyrs and commemorate the nation’s victory during the Marka-e-Haq conflict in May 2025.

The inauguration took place on the eve of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day and was attended by high-ranking military and civil officials, including Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf. The ceremony included a guard of honor presented to the leadership and participation from various armed forces and provincial contingents.

Marka-e-Haq refers to the military conflict between Pakistan and India that began following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, and concluded with a ceasefire on May 10 following Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. During the conflict, Pakistan reported shooting down more than six Indian fighter jets.
