Pakistan leadership accused of using religion for political gain

The report highlights how high-ranking officials and ministers utilize religious rhetoric to shape political narratives, a trend that has reportedly strengthened global perceptions linking Islam with terrorism.

The report notes growing unease in Islamabad regarding the strengthening ties between India and Afghanistan. Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reportedly suggested that Afghanistan should avoid relations with India due to its status as a Hindu nation. This followed comments from Afghan Agriculture Minister Maulvi Ataullah Omari regarding shared DNA between Indians and Afghans, which Chaudhry questioned in relation to Islamic identity.

Furthermore, the report accuses the Pakistani military leadership, particularly under General Asim Munir, of increasingly integrating Islamic references into public discourse to address issues such as national security and Kashmir.
