Pakistan Medical and Dental Council introduces strict 2026 admission rules
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued its Medical and Dental Admission Policy 2026, introducing significant financial penalties to ensure transparency and institutional accountability. Under the new regulations, medical and dental colleges will face a fine of Rs500,000 for delaying the publication of merit lists, with an additional Rs50,000 penalty for every subsequent day of delay.
Institutions that admit students beyond their approved seat allocations will be fined an amount equal to the student’s actual annual fee, and their seat capacity will be reduced by double the number of excess students in the following session. Other administrative penalties include Rs50,000 per student for registration delays, Rs75,000 per student for delayed graduation reporting, and Rs30,000 per student for delayed examination results.
The policy also mandates the use of a designated online portal for all submissions by colleges, universities, and students; documents submitted outside this format may result in fines. Additionally, a minimum one-year house job is now mandatory for obtaining a full license, with teaching hospitals required to submit completion certificates to the PMDC within 10 days.
