Pakistan Medical and Dental Council limits Palestinian student training
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a ruling regarding Palestinian medical and dental students from Gaza. Under the decision, these students are permitted to undertake clinical training in Pakistan on humanitarian grounds, but they are barred from accessing house jobs, postgraduate training, registration, or licensing.
The PMDC clarified that this arrangement is not a permanent policy and does not create any permanent entitlements. The council noted there is currently no legal pathway for foreign graduates to sit the National Registration Examination (NRE). Medical and dental institutions have been warned that providing degrees, medical qualifications, or extending training beyond the permitted clinical framework would constitute a violation of the law.
