Pakistan military chief Asim Munir targeted in alleged Mossad plot during US‑Iran talks in Switzerland
Brazilian journalist and geostrategist Pepe Escobar claimed in a podcast that Israel’s Mossad was planning to assassinate Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, the head of the army, while he attended US‑Iran peace negotiations in Geneva. Escobar said the plot was allegedly ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that Pakistan’s military had received credible intelligence, issuing a stern warning to Israel.
Both Pakistan and Israel have denied any such plan. Pakistani media and senior journalist Kamran Khan quoted a high‑ranking security official who dismissed the allegation as unfounded. The claim surfaced days after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led a delegation aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran, while Israeli leaders criticised the talks and warned of broader regional implications.
