Pakistan military leaders issue warnings to India over nuclear posture

Senior Pakistani military officials have issued warnings regarding India’s nuclear stance and potential for aggression. Lt. Gen. (r) Mazhar Jamil, an adviser to Pakistan’s National Command Authority, suggested that India may be shifting toward an offensive first-strike posture. Jamil noted that India’s capability to maintain ‘continuous-at-sea-deterrence’ may undermine its declared ‘no first use’ policy.

In a separate address at the Pakistan Military Academy, General Syed Aamer Raza, Commander of the National Strategic Command, stated that Pakistan’s armed forces are prepared to defend all territory. He warned that any miscalculation by those with aggressive intentions would result in a response that ‘far exceeds the imagination and expectations’ of the initiators.

These remarks follow a significant military confrontation in May 2025, which involved missiles, drones, and airstrikes following an attack in Indian-administered Kashmir. While a ceasefire was reached in May 2025 through diplomatic intervention, tensions remain high regarding the unresolved dispute over Kashmir.
