Pakistan military reshuffles ISI leadership and extends Asim Malik’s term
Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik is reportedly receiving a one-year extension as the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and as Pakistan’s National Security Adviser (NSA). This extension comes as the country faces significant security challenges, including militant violence and regional tensions.
In a broader military and intelligence reshuffle, Major General Muhammad Shamraiz Khan has been appointed as the new Director General of the ISI’s Special Operations Directorate (DG-S). This appointment follows the removal of other high-ranking officials, including Major General Wajid Aziz, who was replaced as Chief of Military Intelligence by Major General Adil Wariach. Additionally, Major General Sajid Amin Awan has been named the new head of the ISI Counter-Terrorism Directorate.
