Pakistan Ministry of Information criticizes Afghan Taliban over security concerns
Pakistan's Federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has stated that the Afghan Taliban government is issuing misleading allegations instead of addressing Pakistan's security concerns. The Ministry emphasized that Pakistan's security measures are intended to combat terrorism rather than target the Afghan people.
According to the Ministry, Pakistan's concerns are supported by international findings, including a United Nations Security Council report and a U.S. Inspector General report. These documents suggest that the Afghan Taliban allow the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to operate from Afghan soil. The U.S. report estimates the number of TTP fighters to be between 4,000 and 6,000.
The Ministry called for the Afghan Taliban to stop facilitating groups such as the TTP and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and to prevent Afghan territory from being used to plan attacks against Pakistan. It noted that regional peace is only possible if the Afghan Taliban take verifiable steps to address terrorism originating from Afghanistan.
