Pakistan monsoon floods claim 108 deaths, thousands injured as rivers swell

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that Pakistan's death toll from monsoon rains, flooding and landslides has risen to at least 108, with 344 people injured. The same report listed 447 houses damaged and 269 livestock killed.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) officials warned that the Chenab and Ravi rivers are expected to reach medium‑to‑high flood levels within 24 hours, putting dozens of districts at risk. A PDMA glacial‑lake‑outburst‑flood (Glof) alert was issued for northern districts including Chitral, Upper Kohistan, Swat and Upper Dir.

Heavy rains have already flooded roughly 400 sq km of land in Punjab, damaged thousands of homes and disrupted road networks. In addition, Indian releases from the Bhakra Dam have raised downstream water flows, adding to flood concerns in Pakistan’s western provinces.
