Pakistan Navy Hangor submarine successfully tests anti-ship missile

The Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted the first live weapon test for its newly inducted Hangor-class submarine. During the exercise in the northern Arabian Sea, the vessel fired an anti-ship cruise missile that accurately struck a designated long-range target.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff, witnessed the test and emphasized the importance of enhancing subsurface warfare capabilities to maintain credible maritime deterrence. The Hangor-class submarine, which entered the navy's inventory in April, features advanced combat systems, modern sensors, and air-independent propulsion technology. This class of submarine is part of a defense collaboration with China.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the successful strike demonstrates the operational readiness and combat capacity of the Pakistan Navy's submarine force. The test follows a recent maritime incident in the same region involving a collision between Pakistani and Indian naval vessels during a biennial exercise.
