Pakistan opposition plans All Parties Conference on economy and new provinces

Opposition parties in Pakistan are moving to form a joint platform and convene an All Parties Conference (APC) to address critical national issues. A delegation from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss political cooperation and a potential protest movement.

The proposed APC aims to facilitate discussions on the country’s law and order situation, the state of the economy, rising inflation, and the potential creation of new provinces. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan stated that the meeting marked the first session in establishing a joint opposition within the Senate and National Assembly, emphasizing the intent to take all political parties into confidence regarding these national matters.

JUI-F leaders welcomed the discussions, noting that political parties must play a collective role in resolving national problems. The move follows recent announcements regarding parliamentary debates scheduled for October concerning provincial restructuring.
