Pakistan opposition plans September 27 protest and new alliance

Opposition leaders in Pakistan have agreed to form a Grand Opposition Alliance to protect the Constitution, democracy, and the rule of law. During a joint parliamentary meeting in Islamabad, leaders including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Raja Nasir Abbas, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman discussed political strategies and inter-party cooperation.

The alliance has retained its plan to hold a PTI-led protest and long march on September 27. They intend to invite all opposition parties to participate and will intensify public outreach campaigns across Punjab and other regions.

A primary concern raised by the group is the health of PTI founder Imran Khan. Opposition leaders demanded that he be moved to a hospital immediately to receive proper medical facilities in accordance with Supreme Court decisions, accusing the government of failing to comply with judicial directives and politicizing his medical condition. The opposition also plans to approach the Supreme Court regarding alleged contempt of court by the government.
