Pakistan Peoples Party suspends cooperation with federal government

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has suspended its parliamentary cooperation with the federal government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). This decision follows escalating tensions between the coalition partners regarding the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) election results and allegations of electoral irregularities.

PPP lawmakers have been instructed to withhold support for government-sponsored legislation in standing committees and to oppose government bills. Additionally, party members have been advised to avoid direct contact with PML-N ministers and leaders. PPP Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari warned that the withdrawal of PPP support could threaten the survival of the PML-N-led government.

Bukhari noted that while discussions were held to resolve differences following the election in the Mirpur Division, the PML-N reportedly withdrew from the process at a critical stage. The PPP is considering convening its Central Executive Committee to determine its future political strategy.
