Pakistan petroleum minister seeks foreign investment in energy and critical minerals

Pakistan’s petroleum minister, Ali Pervaiz Malik, met with executives from US‑based Morgan Hughes Energy, Tejara Capital and Vitol Asia to discuss foreign investment in the country’s energy and mining sectors. The discussions covered joint projects on critical mineral exploration in Balochistan, including the Reko Diq copper‑gold deposit, as well as increased oil and gas production from existing fields.

The meetings also focused on expanding fuel‑storage capacity, launching bunkering services at the deep‑sea port of Gwadar and converting high‑sulfur fuel oil into very‑low‑sulfur fuel oil. The government highlighted its strategy to attract overseas capital, reduce reliance on imported energy and develop Pakistan into a regional mining hub.
